On February 9, 2012 I DJed a wedding for a nice young couple that had their ceremony and reception at K Restaurant in College Park Orlando. They had approximately 80 to 90 guests. I setup a speaker in the garden for the ceremony and one on the patio for cocktail hour. The restaurant actually has built in speakers in both areas, but the couple had me provide the music for more control in the individual areas of the restaurant.
The staff was incredibly friendly and you could tell they enjoyed working there. The outside garden area in the back was used for the ceremony which was quaint with lots of character. Since they are tight on space, only about 14 chairs were setup for immediate family while the rest of the guests stood for the ceremony.
While it was tight navigating the building while a lot of guests were inside, it worked out best to do a more cocktail hour type dinner with hors d’oeuvres on high top tables. It was nice to have the dancing area in a separate room for the guests that wanted to dance versus those that wanted to socialize at the bar or patio. The bar was close to the dancing room around the corner, so the guests could still hear the music without having to yell to the person next to them.
During cocktail hour the bride and groom were given a separate room to have some food and drinks to themselves. It worked out great for them since they wanted their wedding to be more of a dance party after all the formal parts of the night were done.
Music choices were a mix of everything from the 60s to today’s top 40. The ceremony started at 5:30pm and the dancing went all the way to 1:00am in the morning! They had a great time and so did I, which is why we just kept going!
