Dine with the dinosaurs to make your wedding one of a kind. T-Rex hovers over you while you eat your dinner, which makes for some interesting conversation at dinner.
The Orlando Science Center is a fantastic venue to get married in and have your wedding reception if you’re looking for a unique atmosphere.
I had the opportunity to DJ a wedding at the Orlando Science Center on April 20, 2013. The wedding couple had about 120 guests with plenty of room to spare in the reception. The reception was held in the Dino Digs room, while the ceremony was held in the Planet Room right next to it. Originally the ceremony was planned to be across the street outside at The Mennello Museum of American Art. Weather was an issue that day, so the Planet Room worked out great as a backup ceremony location.
The cocktail hour was held in the rotunda by the stairwell and elevators. The couple chose 50s to 80s oldies music for cocktail hour. For dinner they wanted to go with soft oldies. To be unique they wanted to stick with mostly 50s music while sprinkling in music from later decades UP TO the 80s. To my surprise, it really did work, because they literally danced all night long. Most DJs told them this type of music wouldn’t work, but I was willing to accept the challenge. I’m glad I did, because they were thrilled that I was the only DJ that didn’t tell them no to what they wanted.
There was no noise ordinance either, so you could literally be there as long as you want without having to turn down the music, unlike some venues.
I provided 12 LED up lights in green and lit up the four columns in the center of Dino Digs. They even got a photo booth for the night, which turned out to be a hit.
Overall, the Orlando Science Center was a fantastic venue and highly recommended for a wedding.
